SCZ40-4型伸缩臂叉装机，底盘采用四轮驱动，刚性悬挂；液力机械传动，液压动力转向和液压制动，后轮转向。作业装置为两节四边形伸缩式工作臂，标准车型配有货叉或吊臂装置。该车可用于集装箱内托盘集装物资的掏箱、装箱叉或吊作业和对各类集装物资进行装卸、码垛和短途搬运作业。
该车适合在多种工作环境下作业，是工矿、企业、建筑、建材、港口、市政工程等行业装卸、起重、运输的理想设备。该车还备有铲斗、吊钩、吊臂等各种不同属具供用户选择、安装使用。其装卸高度及越野性能是普通叉车所无法比拟的。
